April Update

The Haus pup is worn out from spring cleaning already.

  • Our plans to have an IRC presence again have been stalled due to currently dead UPS batteries. The efforts to recondition the existing batteries has sadly failed to bare fruit. If anyone has any usable batteries that they aren’t using or would like to donate some new ones, this would greatly benefit the Haus because there are several other current project that have also been put on hold with the battery shortage. If you can help, please email us at info [at] thinkhaus.org. We’d sure be glad to hear from you.
  • It looks like our spring cleaning will be going on right until summer as The Haus continues to get more organized we seem to continue to be adding more things to the lost and found box. All current and former members please be sure to check-in if you find you are missing something before mid-May as anything not claimed by then will either be re-homed or recycled.
  • Our members-only Hot Dog dinner starts at 6pm on Tuesday with everything to be cleaned up when door open at 7pm for open|haus. We are able to do this through members generously either bringing hot dogs/buns or paying-what-they-can so we can buy hot dogs and buns for the following week and well as everyone cleaning up after themselves before open|haus begins. It is only through working together as members that this dinner can happen and we know that you’ve all be enjoying it because you’ve eating a lot of hot dogs these last few months. Everyone needs to continue to give what they can and help out where they can so we can continue to happily eat dinner together.
  • Lastly, the month The Haus has been inspired by spring and the concept of starting anew by looking in the direction of how we can upcycle the cast-off materials that can be found easily around us in order to make them useful and beautiful again. Projects in the works are everything from using the laser to cut cardboard to make cardboard furniture as well as DIY drop spindles that can spin plastic grocery bags that people just usually throw away. Keep your eyes peeled for future posts with pictures and updates.

Thanks for posting these regular updates. I really enjoy being able to read about what’s going on.
I was involved with thinkhaus several years ago and am looking forward to coming out to an open|haus in the near future.
